SBA Disaster Assistance in Response to Coronavirus

Any such Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance declaration issued by the SBA makes loans
available to small businesses and private, non-profit organizations in designated areas of a state
or territory to help alleviate economic injury caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Hospitality Industry Relief Emergency (HIRE) Fund

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has established the Hospitality Industry Relief Emergency (HIRE) Fund to provide bridge loans for Kansas’ hospitality sector in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The Kansas Department of Commerce and NetWork Kansas will administer the loan program. Through the HIRE fund, eligible businesses in Kansas will be able to apply for a one-time loan of up to $20 thousand at 0% interest for a period of 36 months. There will be no principal or interest payments for the first four months.

FEMA Public Assistance

The purpose of the Public Assistance (PA) Grant Program is to support communities’ recovery from major disasters by providing them with grant assistance for debris removal, life-saving emergency protective measures, and restoring public infrastructure. Local governments, states, tribes, territories and certain private nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply.

Investment Opportunities in Gove County

Gove County is recognized as a Federal Opportunity Zone.  Opportunity Zones are census tracts generally composed of economically distressed communities that qualify for the Opportunity Zone designation according to the criteria outlined in 2017’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.  Since the passage of the law, Opportunity Zones have been designated in all 50 states, including ALL of Gove County (2 separate tracts).  

Rural Opportunity Zone (ROZ)

Gove County is a ROZ county that offers ROZ incentives. This allows residents to apply for student loan repayments up to $15,000 with employer sponsorship and Kansas income tax waiver. Find more information and how to apply here.
